Services Provided
Services are provided at the Child Advocacy Center of Niagara for children referred through the multidisciplinary team. These include:
- A child-friendly atmosphere for interviews
- Medical evaluations
- Coordination of investigative, legal, medical, and mental health services
- Counseling
- Forensic interviews
- Information and referral
- Education and training
- Family services advocacy
- Family Violence Intervention Project
- Child Fatality/Serious Injury Review Team
The Child Advocacy Center of Niagara provides leadership and support for a comprehensive, coordinated, multi-disciplinary response to allegations of child abuse in a single, child-friendly site. The Child Advocacy Center coordinates Niagara County’s Child Abuse Intervention Project (CAIP) which includes law enforcement, social services, medical, mental health, and victim assistance professionals who help to support and protect children and their families.
The Child Advocacy Center also coordinates the county’s Child Fatality/Serious Injury Review Team and the Family Violence Intervention Project which addresses overlapping issues of child abuse and domestic violence.
The Child Advocacy Center’s newest initiative is the Niagara County Safe Harbour Project. In partnership with the Niagara County Department of Social Services, the Safe Harbour Project addresses the issue of child trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation of children. Safe Harbour will provide training, promote public awareness, conduct direct outreach to youth, and provide case management services and support to survivors.
